A Better Way to Shop for Skin Care
The Big Idea
The current skincare business is a scam.
We are expected to buy products without knowing what's in them, knowing
what our skin needs, and knowing if the products will actually make our issues worse.
Half of the time, buying a new product will break you out, or just not work. Inflation
is too high to be wasting money like that!
Additionally, our products are full of toxins and preservatives that are detrimental to long term
skin health and general systemic health of the body. The problem is, most of us
aren't chemists, so we can't look at an ingredient label and be able to identify
what may be harmful in the products we are using.
This website aims to solve that problem by providing a detailed database that allows
users to search for products by ingredient or ingredient class. When you click on a product,
a product details page comes up. In this page you will be able to see the general info about the
product, and links to where to purchase it. It will have two safety scores based on a five star system:
the first safety score is based on peer-reviewed scientific overview of ingredients, and the second
safety rating is based on user reviews that people can post (like the critic review vs. audience review
on rotten tomatoes.)
Below the ratings is an ingredient overview page that breaks down what ingredients are used for,
and how they generally affect the body and skin. The breakdown will compare and contrast advantages
and disadvantages to using the product based on presented data, producing a net advantage score.
The ingredient overview will also have links to all
scientific studies and sources referenced, as well as a comparison between U.S / FDA regulations
of the ingredient v.s the EU.
Lastly, below all of this information, detailed user comments will review their experiences
with products containing this ingredient.
